A Little Horn Blowing

I don’t usually take up space here talking about me, but I came across an interesting development and ask for your patience as I toot a little on my own horn today.

Tekrati is a Web site that tracks blogs, and within that, the site maintains a list of analyst blogs. A site called The Customer Collective is a “forum for sales and marketing executives” according to its home page. Using the analyst blog list from Tekrati, they have developed a ranked list of analyst blogs, including measures such as inbound links from Twitter and major search engines.

And I was surprised to discover — drumroll, please — that HDTV Almanac is tied for 85th in this list of 400 analyst blogs. It’s ranked ahead of some heavy-hitting companies, such as the mammoth retail tracker NPD and a whole bunch of analysts from Forrester and Parks Associates and the Gartner Group. That’s a pretty heady crowd for a little operation like this to hang around with. And as far as I can tell, this is the only HDTV and home entertainment related one to make the list.

So, I want to thank all of you who clicked on the link in the search engine results when a entry from HDTV Almanac showed up, and all of you who have subscribed to the RSS feed, and all of you who Tweet and post links elsewhere about what you read here. I have a lot of fun with this project, but it also helps to know that I’m achieving my goal of helping share information that people find useful and interesting.

So I guess I’ll keep at it for a while longer.

All best wishes to you in this holiday season!
