Did you miss Stewie duking it out with Underdog for the giant Coke bottle? Is everyone around the water cooler still laughing about the eTrade baby? Want to see Shaq win a horserace? Whether you watched the SuperBowl last night or not, you may be interested in knowing that some of the best parts of the evening are available for you to view on the Web: the commercials.
The SuperBowl evening is also the SuperBowl of television advertising. A 30-second spot went for a cool $2.7 million last night. So it’s the night when companies hope to make the biggest splash they can by creating a clever, memorable program that runs for half a minute. It’s the video equivalent of a short, short story. Some go wide of the mark, but many are worth a second or third view.
You can see all the commercials from last night — organized by quarter — at http://www.myspace.com/superbowlads. The video quality is uneven, as some seem to be more compressed than others, but you still get the gist of it. And there are some pretty good ones in the mix. I’d be hard-pressed to pick a favorite, but the Semi-Pro/Bud Light ad in the fourth quarter has to rank near the top. Check it out.
