CES 2007 is fading into the mists of memory, but all those new HDTVs are starting to appear. Over the next six months, the products announced in January will start to appear on retailer’s displays and in the listings of Web shopping sites. The dealers still have a sizable inventory left over from the end-of-year shopping season, however, so they are motivated to move some of their existing stock before the new models arrive. The clearance ads started to appear in this week’s Sunday circulars from stores including Best Buy and Circuit City.
And I’m not talking about third tier off-brands here, either. For example, Circuit City has the 46″ Samsung LNS4695D LCD TV for $2,749.99. Best Buy has the 46″ Samsung LNS4692D for $2,199.99. How about a rear-projection LCoS? Best Buy has the JVC 56″ HD567BP7 and HD56G787 for $1,599.99, and they’ll even throw in a free stand. Or if plasma floats your boat, Circuit City is selling the HP PL4260N for $1,199.99.
So if you’re looking for the chance to drive a hard bargain, this could be a good time. Sales are slow, inventories are high, and the new models are starting to arrive on the loading dock. You may have to search a bit to find the one you want in stock, but it could be a good time to go hunting.
